How to Get Xfinity Channels in 4k

Get a Compatible TV Box

Not every Xfinity TV Box can produce 4k content. You can only access 4k programming on Xfinity using the Xfinity X1 XG1v4 or Xi6 TV Box or the Flex Xi6 streaming TV Box. The X1 box’s model number can be found by clicking About in the X1 Settings menu. You can also find this information on the sticker that is on the bottom of the box.

– AX014ANM or AX014ANC are the model numbers for the XG1v4 box.

– AX061AEI or TX061AEI are the model numbers for the Xi6 box.

Get a Compatible TV

Ensure that your TV has the capability for 4k UHD, HDR, Dolby Vision, or Dolby Atmos before you try to access 4k content. You can check your TV manual to determine if your TV is compatible. Using your TV box, you can also identify if your TV is 4K-compatible.

– Using your Xfinity voice remote,  search for Device Settings.

– On the menu that pops up, select Video Display

– Three icons that indicate 4k capability in your TV and your TV box will be displayed at the top of the page.

Also, note that you should have a 4k-capable HDMI cord to access the 4k channels on Xfinity.

Set the Video Resolution to 4k

If your TV is 4k compatible, you should set the video resolution on your TV box to produce the best video output.

– On the Video Display page in your Device Settings, click on Video Output Resolution and select the resolution you like best.

– Confirm the resolution by clicking Yes on the message that prompts on your screen.

– You can simply set your resolution to 4k on your X1 box by selecting Prefer Best Available Resolution.

What is Special about 4k TV?

The viewing experience on a 4K Ultra-HD TV is far more vivid and clear. TVs with 4k resolution have 3,840 by 2,160 pixels, which is four times more than HDTV. 4k refers to the horizontal scanning lines which are approximately 4,000 pixels. One stunning characteristic of the 4k TV is that it can hold four times the amount of pixels an HDTV can hold in the same space. This character is responsible for the clearer content available on 4k.
